Mumtaz Mufti is one of the most famous and renowned Urdu writers. Urdu literature is incomplete without Mumtaz Mufti. He left a lasting legacy in Urdu literature. Author's Birth and Death


Mufti Mutaz Hussain's real name was Mufti Mumtaz Hussain. Mumtaz Mufti was born on September 11, 1905, in Batala (Gordaspor District) in the Indian Punjab to Mufti Muhammad Hussain. Mumtaz Mufti He got his early education in Amritsar, Mianwali, Multan, and Dera Ghazi Khan. He did his BA from Dera Ghazi Khan, FA from Amritsar, and Islamia College, Lahore.

Many of his legendary collections have been published, including In Kahi, Gahmaghami, Chip, Rogni Patel, and Same Ka Bandhan. He also wrote travelogues such as Hind Yatra and Lubik and is the author of books on sketching, onion peels, and search. He died on October 27, 1995, at the age of 91 in Islamabad.

 Mumtaz Mufti was initially a staunch opponent of the Partition of India but later became known as a very patriotic Pakistani and Islamist. It is said that this change in his caste took place after his association with Qudratullah Shehab. 

Although his personality was influenced by the habits, manners, and ideas of Qudratullah Shehab, he still managed to maintain his unity and untouchability as a writer. Mumtaz Mufti's writings mostly seem to highlight many aspects and evils of society.

Winning Award:

In 1986, he was honored with the Sitara-e-Imtiaz award, and in 1989 with the Munshi Premchand award. Pakistan Post Office also released a commemorative stamp in 2013 in honor of the legendary Urdu writer.
